The Memoirs of Frank McCourt

Two books that should not be missed by memoirs lovers are Angela's Ashes and 'Tis: A Memoir. These two books got me engaged all night and day! I simply could not stop myself from wanting more. The author is very honest and has a very unique way of story telling which made these two books international bestsellers.

Title: Angela's Ashes
Author: Frank McCourt
Type: Memoir
ISBN: 0-00-721703-X

In Angela's Ashes, Frank McCourt speaks about his life as a child that was born in New York and raised in the lanes of Ireland. He also speaks about the obstacles that faced him as a child and his family, how he developed a love for reading and writing, and the sins he committed. Finally, he speaks of how he got to achieve his dream to leave Ireland and travel to New York. This book has the potential to make you cry, not only because of the tragedies that the author went through, but also because of the author's honesty.

Title: 'Tis: A Memoir
Author: Frank McCourt
Type: Memoir
ISBN: 0-00-722184-3

In 'Tis: A Memoir, the author speaks of his life in New York; how he managed to dig his way out of obstacles and hard times, his experiences in the war, how did he manage to complete his education without even attending high school and finally achieving his dream to become a teacher and a writer. He also mentioned bits of his teaching experience, which were funny to me since teachers are still facing what he faced. I found some parts about the war a bit disturbing; however the rest of the book is great!

Another book by Frank McCourt is Teacher Man: A Memoir, however i did not get my hands on that one yet!
